The way of life of the Poor Servants
of the Mother of God

God-centred
The life of a vowed member of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God is centred in a relationship with God. This relationship is nurtured through personal and group prayer. It is this strong inner relationship that is the core of who we are as women. It is this relationship that nourishes and gives meaning to other relationships – the women who share our lifestyle, the people who need our love.

Together
The Poor Servants of the Mother of God support each other in their daily living. There are a variety of living styles that enable us to keep a balance in our varied works of service. Some live with others in community and others form community alone or in places where there are few sisters to support them. No matter what the lifestyle may be, there is a connection between the sisters that provides a shared vision and a deep commitment to each other.

Others
The types of works of service the sisters do are varied. The talents of the sisters lead them into the work where our Individual gifts will be put at the service of the needy and most vulnerable. Frances Taylor, Foundress says that we must serve God, though not always in the same way. We sponsor a variety of healthcare and social service organisations.

Are you called to this way of life?
God calls each of us individually and uniquely to grow and become the best person we can. For some, the best way to become that best person is through the lifestyle of prayer, commitment and helping others.

The process of exploring, knowing and determining if this lifestyle is for you is called discernment. It takes time, prayer and spiritual guidance. This is a process where you can deepen your knowledge of yourself, your likes and dislikes, your limitations and your strengths. You will discover yourself and what is important to you. And most important, you realise that God’s intention for each of us is our happiness.
